The brass spectacle buckle is a double-loop fastening design that dates back to the late medieval and Renaissance period (14th-17th century). Often called a double loop buckle due to its figure-eight shape, this medieval belt buckle was used across Europe for everyday use . It was seen on belts, small pouches, footwear, and even armor straps such as gorgets and pauldrons.
This compact brass buckle is made from solid brass, for strength and a timeless look. Brass has been valued for its durability and natural resistance to rust, making it a reliable for long-term use.
With time, brass forms a rich natural patina, for character and a vintage look to the piece. If preferred, the double loop buckle can also be polished to maintain a bright golden finish.
