This Medieval Quilted Arming Cap is a reproduction of the padded liners worn beneath helmets. This arming cap is a practical addition to any medieval armor ensemble. Its shape and construction are based on depictions and findings from the 13th to 15th centuries, when such caps were used by soldiers as a protective barrier beneath plate armor.

With two functional layers, this cap includes a durable quilted cotton canvas outer shell and a padded interior. The outer shell helps the cap retain its shape and resist wear from friction while the inner padded layer cushions the head, absorbs shock and reduces the pressure points caused by heavy helmets or coifs.

The quilted arming cap has side ties that fasten securely under the chin, so it stays firmly in place even during active movement. It even helps to stabilize the helmet and prevent shifting during use.
